Files Waiting To Be Written To CD.....

by Catamount Panther / June 24, 2004 1:33 AM PDT

Inadvertently, when I installed an update to a proprietary application (mortgage lending), it sent a large number of files to the Recycle Bin on my desktop. When I clicked on "Restore", is sent them to my CD Drive to be written to a CD. When I shut down my PC, or reboot it, I get a msg that files are waiting to be written to a CD, insert a disk.

I want to move these files back to my proprietary application, but don't seem to be able to find them on my PC. Where / How can I find these files so I can put them back where they belong?

To facilitate CD recording, Windows XP uses a staging area (Drive_letter:\Documents and Settings\ username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning) to store data for recording, which is also copied to a monolithic disk image file (StashImapi.bin) located in the root folder by default, [Q279157].

For the price of a blank cd or cdrw you might just right that cd and you will then have the files where you can see them and do what you wish with them.
