Why not start over? Delete the old partition, create a new partition and format it?
The tools I know of still can't fix all corrupt file systems so we are left with the old ways.

I've tried showing hidden files: no dice.

There are irreplaceable files in the section of "missing" data. Pictures, music, etc. I really want to recover the data, but thank you.
You can google for the free data recovery tools. I've used one called "recuva" with partial success.
Barring these you might consider paid service. Expect the costs to be at least in the hundreds with no guarantee that all files can be recovered.
Don't use any of those tools on this disk. First clone it to another one and work on the copy. Any recovery attempt (including the chkdsk you did) might do some updates that worsen the situation for the next try by the next program.
However, even cloning might be impossible if the file system already is damaged, as it seems to be. Might depend on the cloning program and how similar the new disk is. But read-only access by the cloning program won't make the situation worse.
Where's your backup?
