Resolved Question

File Transfer in my Network

Apr 10, 2017 2:02AM PDT

Hi,

I have 2 Nodes Server and each node has 1 network card 1GB and i have opensuse platform for both with Samba Server Sharing Folders.

i have CAT7 Network Cables and Router Speed up to 1000 MB.
Storage is SATA for both.

when i am trying to copy files from one node to another, i have only 60 mb/s using ipv4 which is very slow comparing to HW i have.

could you please provide me how to fix this and if i disabled ipv6 will improve something.

Regards,

FTP is a lightweight protocol.

Usually, network speed is measured in bits per second, and file transfer speed in bytes per second.
Speed is never measured in bits or bytes.

So your post is quite unclear. If you mean 1000 Mbps and 60 MB/second I'd call it fast. But if you mean 8000 Mbps and 7.5 MB/s I'd call is slow indeed.

yes, i mean 1000 mbps and 60 mb/second

but i expected something like 200mb/second or above, my network cards and cables support up to 1 GB/Sec and switch as well.

disabling ipv6 will make difference ?

This is a really a very slow speed according to the hardware, maybe the file which you have copied, having some virus so the speed is less, maybe you try to copy another file and check the speed, If the problem is continue than there is a problem in your network.
