Question

File Transfer from old PC to new PC

Apr 7, 2017 9:43AM PDT

I just bought a new Windows 7 PC because I still like W7. I want to transfer my applications, i.e. programs & exe 's etc. from the old one to the new. I'm not talking about just copying files. I want pretty much everything or to be able to select, I may or may not have the CD's because some stuff was downloaded. If you have done this, what software with USB have you used. Thanks. Jay

Thanks R. Proffitt. I looked at EASUS and that is a possibility. I am also looking at LapLink with a USB cable or Ethernet connection, connecting both to the same network may be an option too.
Thanks for you help, appreciated !
Jay

Sorry, would not recommend. Even if it was free. It was that bad.

Thanks, You know what. I might just have a lot of crap and outdated software that I should not be worrying about. For my MS Office 2013, with the key Microsoft will allow you to download a new copy. My printer drivers, MalwareBytes I have the key, Amazon music, etc can all be downloaded again. Norton Security Suite come free with Comcast and that can be downloaded. Any files and documents I can just plop on an external HD. I don't keep anything that can identify me, soc sec, bank info, drivers lic, etc on the C:\.
I'll manage. I'm a senior software engineer for Hewlett Packard. I wonder what Best Buy Geek Squad uses for customers. I'll call and ask. I know when they ask if you want your files, they just copy everything to a new HD for $100.

I have yet to give a nod to old versions of Windows. I nod to latest, Linux and Apples.
