File Sorting issues in My Music folder and My Pictures.

This has been a long ongoing pet peeve of mine.

I have formatted this computer numerous times, in fact it's April and I've formatted it twice this year already. Windows XP Pro, 32bit with SP3.

Problem is, when I go into the My Music folder (list view by default), and sub folders, by default it always sorts in reverse order. I just right click, go to 'arrange icons by' and although the check is next to 'name' if I click it again it sorts A-Z again.

Although a simple solution... if I have 30 folders and some with subfolders, I have to do this for them all.

The My Pictures folder doesn't resort. If I add in a few new folders and images by drag'n'drop, if I hit F5 it doesn't resort the thumbnails. I have to as well, right click in an open space and go to sort and click name again.

Given that this system and my last system get a full format and reinstall every few months I'm assuming it's a windows bug.

Is there a fix at all? regkey maybe?
