File>Send>Page/Link not working

Dec 1, 2003 6:22AM PST

I wonder what I could have done so that now when I have a webpage I want to email to someone, I can't. When I go File>Send>Page/Link, Page and Link are grayed out. Anyone have any ideas as to how I can get them back? Thanks, grandpaw7

Make sure that your default E-mail program is designated correctly. While in Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" in the upper left, choose "Internet Options", then choose the "Programs" tab, then in the "E-mail" line, select the correct e-mail client you have established, such as "Outlook Express", etc. If you make changes, click on "Apply", then OK.

Hope this helps.

If any other Internet service provider (ISP) software was installed/used, any of the following related symptoms may be experienced if that software added an e-mail Client key to the system registry, (Q178077):

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
and/or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

a. The Page by E-mail and Link by E-mail commands under the Send command on the File menu in Microsoft Internet Explorer may not work.

b. The Read Mail, New Message, Send a Link, and Send Page commands under the Mail button in Internet Explorer may not work.

c. When you try to use any of the preceding commands, your pointer may become an hourglass (indicating your computer is busy), but nothing may happen and you may not receive an error message.

Thanks Grif and CursorCowboy for the input. It turns out that the problem somehow went away before I did anything. Sorry to have bothered you, but thanks. Jerry

sending links --thanks
Nov 21, 2005 10:22AM PST

I have been having problems sending links and pages from IE and got the message that I had no profile. I checked and found that my email somehow got changed from OE to Outlook. I changed it and was able to send a link. Dell couldn't bother to tell me that!

Thanks. This is a great site.
