"file" menu option is missing from excel menu bar

Jan 24, 2008 1:20PM PST

The file menu option of excel is underneath the X on the far right menu bar. How do I get it to display properly? I can't access it where it is now.

This happened to my computer at work. A few months ago I was connected directly to the server. Ever since strange things happen. Excel was working fine until about 2 weeks ago.

Work-around.
Jan 24, 2008 4:24PM PST

Press alt-F and the contents will pop-down.

To repair this situation, try:
- contact the work IT-staff to solve it
- repair install of Office
- delete *.xlb (although that's only for the toolbars)
- try it in another account
- uninstall and reinstall of Office
- uninstall, registry cleaner and reinstall of Office

Hope this helps.

I have already contacted IT about the situation. I will try the alt -F.

Thank you for your input. I will try IT again as well.

Stop Dragging it
Jan 28, 2008 10:47PM PST

Try:
View>Toolbars>Customize>Options Tab
Make sure "Show Standard and Formatting toolbars on two rows" is checked.

You can drag and drop toolbars around the screen to where you want them. There should be a dotted line just to the left of "File" and clicking and dragging that will re-position the toolbar to where you want it.
