Question

File management solution that allows easy client access?

Apr 8, 2015 2:03AM PDT

We are wanting to implement some kind of file management system that will allow our kitchen cabinet manufacturing company to lessen our dependence on reams of paper. One of the key items we want to do is have clients be able to see their documents, fill in forms, and sign off on drawings. I have done multiple searches and really cannot find anything which looks like this.
What can you recommend that I look at for a solution?

Answer
File management or Kitchen Design software?
Apr 8, 2015 2:07AM PDT

The last time I looked at Kitchen Design software it looked to have a lot on the move for what you asked EXCEPT "file management." That is, the files underneath were pretty much an admin control area.

The client so far has had little reason to deal with files but may be offered views via a web browser and more.

I think if you look for Kitchen Design software you would have better luck.

Design software

Bob, we have Cabinet Vision which is state of the art cad and cam software but it does not have any components of this type. Ultimately we would like to have an ERP system that would cover all of what we want to do but so far cannot find anything that connects with CV.
What we are trying to do is basically offer all of the people here in our factory and our clients access to the same design drawings and forms. This would allow us to quit making multiple copies of paperwork that often ends up wrong because of design changes.

ERP = another thing.
Apr 8, 2015 3:32AM PDT

ERP continues to be tailored to each business. The one thing to avoid is to adopt ERP for the sake of ERP.

I've lost track of how many times ERP increased workload and delays rather than reduced such. This usually takes care of itself by either the company folding or fixing that issue.

Talk with your current software maker to see what plans they have to add the missing features then go shopping again. While I know about software systems I'm a few years out of touch with what's out today. But most have implemented web backends and may cover part of what you are after.

Online kitchen design software

According to your description, I think web app online 3D kitchen constructor may meet your needs.
It's a development of Prodboard software and there are 2 versions - demo which is free for ordinary users and official full version for kitchen cabinet manufaturers with price calculation and synchronization with accounting software, Administrator UI and possibility of creation agreements and other documents.
You can have a look at the project that I made myself for my kitchen renovation http://prodboard.eu/kitchen/#project-sample-7 though I have used demo for private deign)
