Nov 14, 2014 8:30AM PST

When I reinstalled windows it created a folder named windows.old/ I want to delete it but can't says I need permission etc. I have tried changing permissions have changed ownership, says I need permission from me (my user name) and it is an admin account, Really really REALLY pissing me off.
I think what is holding me up now but I'm not sure, is I can't change the read only attribute, help please anyone, it's making me nuts

1. Open Disk Cleanup by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type Disk Cleanup, and then, in the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.
2. If you're prompted to choose a drive, click the drive you just installed Windows on, and then click OK.
3. In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, on the Disk Cleanup tab, click Clean up system files.
4. If you're again prompted to choose a drive, click the drive you just installed Windows on, and then click OK.
5 Select the Previous Windows installation(s) check box, and any other check boxes for the files you want to delete, and then click OK.
6. In the message that appears, click Delete Files.

or use a linux live cd like I do Happy

Thanks that did the trick, that ownership thing is a pain. Another instance of curtailing users freedoms.
I would add one thing tho, after you type search you will not see disk clean up you will see the option "FREE UP DISK SPACE DELETING UNECESSARY FILES" that brings up the disk cleanup utility
