file conversion, please help!!

by robert Koser / June 21, 2009 7:18 AM PDT

I have Appleworks (Version 3.0) with a data base file (69K) holding all of our 25th & 30th high school reunion data relating to all 580 classmates. The data base has 27 categories (columns).
File was created on Apple llE computer
Data file is on both a 3-1/2 and 5 inch floppy disk
How can we upgrade convert this file to run on a mac or PC ?

The easiest way
by Jimmy Greystone / June 21, 2009 10:14 AM PDT

The easiest way, for something that old, is probably just to recreate it on a newer database program. It's also possible to just make images of the floppies, and then use an Apple ][ emulator to run AppleWorks in.

I don't understand the making of images of the floppies, and in regards to Apple ll emulator, where can this be obtained and which computer would run the emulator?

Try Google for an Apple ][ emulator. But really, your best bet overall is probably to just recreate the thing.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
