A long time ago I found the switches in most routers and modems to be sub par. So my long term go to setup was to use a single port on my modem/router to a switched hub.
It would take a lot more words why this helps but in short, that's my preferred setup.
So... I have fibre optic at home going into a fritz!box. Now the strength is quite weak so I finally decided to actually set up the switch panel, since theres already cat6 cabling going throughout the apartment. I got a simple 8 port one since i have 8 cables ![]()
Now my question is this. My Fritzbox router has 2 high speed and 2 standard speed. One of the high speed is getting the data from the fibre optic. The other I would like to use for at least half of the 8 ports. ( mostly to be used for tv/consoles/pc)
So I am not sure if I should just buy a cheap 100/1000 switch, use one port as in and the rest just stick into the panel.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
