1.) Click here for information on disabling unnecessary programs and services and, if you want to recovery some of the disk space, click here.
2.) That's how Windows is designed to do it. It can be changed, but it's a long and tedious process, making it easier to rename the current account to something you don't care about, create a new account with the desired name, and copy files/settings over.
3.) I assume this is a 64-bit version of Windows Vista? If so, it separates 64-bit (x64) and 32-bit programs (x86) to clearly differentiate between them, particularly useful if there are 32-bit and 64-bit versions installed, making both required to maintain full functionality. Don't delete, rename, or merge either folder.
Hope this helps,
John
Hey CNet Forum Members,
I got a few questions.
1) I got 2gbs of ram on my hp pavilion laptop, and I don't know why it takes so much to load up to the desktop. I sorta expected it to be way fast.
The hard drive which has the operating system is 142gbs, and its got 93gbs free space.
2) Another question I wanted to ask is that when I received my laptop the person made a user account with the name changs. Even though I changed the user account to Shaun. Its under: C:\Users\changs
3) And I wanted to also ask is that when I received my laptop I had to Program Files folders.
One is Program Files, and the other is Program Files (x86).
All the software gets installed under Program Files (x86).
Is this something to do with Windows Vista. Or that the person who installed the Vista did this.
Any way I can remove the Program Files folder, and rename the Program Files (x86) to Program Files.
Thanks in advance,
Shaun
