Feature phone that support whatsapp today

Dec 10, 2018 12:23PM PST

Im looking for a feature phone that is available in Europe and supports whatsapp.

I know the Nokia 8110 4G runs Kai Os and that soon it Might be possible to use whatsapp on that phone, however I don't want to wait for the release and need a feature phone now.

The phones must have below:
- wifi connection
- Hotspot tethering
- ability to run whatsapp
- no touchscreen

What have you found?

I found nothing like what you listed. Is this what we call unicorn hunting?

The Hotspot along requires smart phone tricks so my bet is there is so little a market for this it isn't worth making when there are Android phones that would cost same or less.

Well in India they for example have the JioPhone which is running on Kai Os and does also run whatsapp and has wifi capabilities. Just wondering if in Europe there is any of these types of phones on the market already. Like I said the Nokia 8110 has Kai Os as well but no whatsapp (yet).

That example doesn't meet your list.

So this is unicorn hunting. In India there are a lot of cheap Android phones. The only reason I'm given for such feature phones is the price. Here I picked up a full (?) featured Android phone for 20 USD. A feature cost more so they just don't bother to create them as you are finding out.

Re: Whatsapp
Dec 10, 2018 12:46PM PST says it needs at least Android 3.0 (there is a comparable page for iOS, other OS'es aren't supported at the moment).

I don't think you'll be able to find a non-touchscreen Android phone in Europe, or anywhere for that matter. So I'm afraid the combination of (1) whatsapp and (2) no touch screen is impossible.
