FDISK - Thank you -How can I crack a BIOS password?

Mar 22, 2004 8:11AM PST

I did the fdisk command at the A prompt and tried several scenarios. The end result..an error message "No drives found" and I read a "Disk configuration error message as the many message scrolled by. FInally, I took out the boot disk, pressed and held down the CTRL key to see if I could boot into safe mode (Win 9Cool and instead of booting into safe mode, the message "Missing Operating System" appeared. I went into the BIOS so I could boot to the CDROM and the previous owner put a password on the BIOS. Does anyone know how to crack a password on the BIOS?

Depending on the type of machine, one could swap the CMOS reset jumper to the other set of pins for a second then back again. This will reset the Bios to its defaults.

tracking back to your original post, you seem to have an issue with the hard drive being seen. A possible dead drive would explain your problems with Fdisk. Does the Bios recognize the drive correctly? Try running diagnostics available from the drive makers website, to verify the condition.
