Many of the filesystems must begin and end on some boundary. I've yet to find a filesystem that used every sector on the hard disk.

In linux terminal/shell "fdisk -l" command shows 80 GB = 80026361856 bytes
screen schot is like following text
**** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** ****
Disk /dev/hdd: 80.0 GB, 80026361856 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9729 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
