Faxing with XP

by cnetsa / November 22, 2005 6:21 AM PST

Hello - please give me some advice if you can.
While I'm able to fax a cover letter from my computer - I can't fax an existing document with the cover letter. Do I need additional software or am I doing something wrong.
Thank You,

I'm not clear what the problem is.

Is it that you are unable to fax more than one sheet at a time? eg you can fax the fax cover note, but then not the document?

Or is it that you do not know how to ''add'' the cover note to the beginning of the document, so that the whole work can be faxed at once?

Or is it something else?

Thanks for responding -
I can create a cover sheet and fax it from the Fax console. There is nothing in that wizard that allows me to add a document.
Therefore I'm searching for another way,
In word under file - send to - there is a fax option.
When I select the open doc or an existing doc - it just hangs? Can't send anything?

Thanks for responding,
Read it again - same conclusion -
Is there another way.
I also noticed a link where by Microsoft has a faxing program I can download. What's your opinion.

Print your document to the fax. You may be thinking about Winfax as to attachments, but in the lowest levels of how fax works... it's a printer.

Believe it or not, I haven't sent a fax in 2 years now. We email documents.

R. Proffitt - thank you for your expertise. Following your advice I faxed a word doc + cover sheet.
E-mail is the way but occasionally the need to bypass e-mail or a dedicated fax machine arises, but until today is wasn't possible without the aid of a friend.
Thanks friend!
