I'm afraid you don't provide enough information.
- What's your OS?
- How do you "receive calls thru the computer"? VOIP over ADSL? Cable?
- What software? Skype?
- What is your telco? What did they advice when you asked them about fax support?
- Did Brother have anything more to offer than "download some software we don't know about"?
I'm afraid this could be difficult or impossible. How would you want to do this if your telco doesn't support it? You're rather dependent on them.
Anyway, start with reading through http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/learnmore/crawford_02october21.mspx
It clearly says at the end the then version of VOIP doesn't support what you want. And scanning http://www.google.com/search?q=fax+voip doesn't make me very optimistic about the current state of affairs.
Please keep us informed of your progress in this matter.
I receive my calls thru my computer. But the tel service co does not provide fax support. I have a fax machine whcih I want to connect to my computer in order to receive faxes. I will be using the same number for answering and faxing. I need a software which will allow me to do this. My machine is Brother and they said the fax machine itself did not have the capabilities, I had to download a software. Which software should I download?
