fat32 to ntfs on external hard drive

Jan 4, 2008 11:48PM PST

Hi I have an iomega external drive, conected to an LA2 running vista.Iomega suggest converting to ntfs for best performance.(cmd enter convert, drive name,:/fs:ntfs)No problem? The command wont run"you have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode". My problem is how to run in elevated mode? I am the only user on the pc and am administrator.Help on another forum suggested right click on the prompt and then on the admin icon this does not happen in cmd.
I am relatively new to this so any help appreciated regards mike

Have You Tried??

I'm not on a Vista machine at the moment, but try finding the "cmd.exe" file, either through a search or by navigating to the C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe location (I think that's the location on Vista), then RIGHT click on the "cmd.exe" file, choose "run as administrator".. It should open a command window for you.. If it doesn't, the double click on the "cmd.exe" file and try your commands.

Hope this helps.
