As you have found out, OS X can read from, but not write to, an NTFS formatted disk.
Formatting your drive will destroy the current data, which seems like a step backwards from your stated aim.
MacFuse is a piece of beta software that claims to enable OS X to read and write to an NTFS disk.
Google for it but BACK-UP the drive before you try this Beta software

I'm trying to get my new MacBook to read and write to a samsung 2.5" 80GB external drive I have. It is currently formatted as NTFS and I'm wondering how I can formatted to FAT32 on my windows machine because it does not give me the option to do so.
Any other solutions to get my Mac to write to my hard drive? I'm only able to read and copy from the hard drive right now and would like to have full access to the info on it.
