of the servers (pick one) and traffic. There's really nothing you can do. If it was me I'd use the Verizon email service and not GMail. Think about it. Verizon has to communicate with Google (or whatever), query them, send it to GMail, GMail has to send it to the web page server, and on and on. Set up Outlook Express (if you haven't already) to use real email, not web mail (GMail).
Why anyone uses any other email than what is provided by their ISP is beyond me.
Does anyone know a way to speed up e-mail reception? I get contract work from one of my employers which sends out email blasts to several hundred workers like me. The first person to click on a link in the email gets the assignment.
Since they moved to this system I have been unable to get any work. The reason I believe has something to do with my e-mail (Gmail) and/or isp (Verizon). I chose Gmail as my account because its servers are located near the same city (San Francisco) where my employer has there email servers. I did this thinking that since they were close together I would get my email faster. I am in Long Beach.
Unfortunately there seems to be a 2-3 lag between when the email is sent and when Gmail receives it. After that it takes another 2-3 minutes for me to find out about it. I don't know if this is caused by Verizon or what. Needless to say, by the time all time has transpired the jobs are long gone.
Any ideas, suggestions, etc would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!
P.S. By the way, when I'm at my computer I'm constantly hitting send/receive.
