Fancy Icons Have Reverted To MS Explorer Generics

Nov 23, 2003 8:02AM PST

Many of my icons have recently reverted back to the MS Explorer generics, e.g., MapQuest had a pretty colored icon, which has reverted to the MS Explorer generic. What caused this? How can I get them to go back to the originals?

Explain a bit more. Are you writing about Internet Explorer icons?

Those FavIcons will vanish since that is a feature not fully implemented in any version sofar in Internet Explorer. The icon for an internet favorite is stored (?) in the temporary files area. Run disk cleanup and it's gone.

Look at the FavOrg tool if you must have this working -> http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,3973,5091,00.asp

Yes, thanks! So, it would seem that when I delete all of my .tmp files, I'm also deleting the fancy icons, is that correct?

FavOrg is a tool for those who want to keep this.
