Fan Runs and stop in few seconds

Hi My System is Dual core I upgrade 80 GB Hard Disk to 260 GB Hard Disk few months its works fine but now when i connect Power to Hard Disk. Processor fan run and stops it in Seconds. When i remove power of HARD DISK it runs smoothly. Please rectify my problem and give a solution

IDE drives when plugged in upside down or off by a row or pin do that.

to check here, power and maybe too demanding a HD(old).

The PSU appears to seen better days and at least you know its too olde because either that or power rating is too low or weaken state due to wear&tear. Replace with a better one of higher wattage and similar connections.

The 2nd HD being 80gb. suggest an older HD. They tend to be more power hungry, not much more but the "poowf" isn't there to get up and running besides PSU issue. Either way, it has become another item to power, further suggesting the PSU should be replaced.
