Upton Boucher : Hello Funkid, how are you?
Funkid7 : Just super really.
Upton Boucher : Great.
Funkid7 : HP Pavillion dv9310us Notebook. Cnet tells me my problem with fried mobo is covered under a recall. what should I do here?
Upton Boucher : Don't worry, I will be glad to assist you in this regard.
Upton Boucher : I understand that the issue is with the motherboard, and want to know whether the Notebook is covered under one time service enhancement plan for the issue, am I correct?
Funkid7 : yes
Upton Boucher : Thank you for the information.
Upton Boucher : May I know the exact issue with the Notebook?
Funkid7 : HP Pavillion dv9310us Notebook PC from 2007. AMD Turion 64x2, Vista OS, Nvidia GeForce Go 6150 graphics. Friend wanted me to check this laptop out and see if I could troubleshoot the thing.
Fan comes on, the LEDs are on briefly and then stop and re-start, but the LCD display stays black screen. No error messages and no beeps.
Tried draining the capacitors and resetting the system, but still get the same thing. Switched out the RAM and this didn't help. Tried new battery, but still no change. The power cord LED is blue and does not blink. It just sits there for hours trying to boot repeatedly, with blue LEDs coming on for about 10 seconds and then turning off for a few seconds and coming back on for about 10 seconds, over and over.
Have tried the HP troubleshooting blink codes thing, but HP says the blinks will show in the 'Caps Lock' and 'Num Lock' green LEDs, yet these never come on at all, so I get no blink codes. Only the blue LED's for the volume, disc, power supply, DVD features are coming on.
The claim is, it has never been dropped or jostled roughly. The HP doesn't appear to be getting too hot and the fan seems to work just fine.
Any help at all, is greatly appreciated.
