Alert

False/fake user changed my CNET forum screename/handle???

Mod - could you contact me about user "shawnlin" as they seem to have hacked into my original CNET account years ago when I wasn't very active...or there was a mix-up in the server???
I'm not sure what can be done now, but I think most/all of the posts should be attributed to me under "shmody"...

Feel free to email directly if needed.

Very best,
Shalin

Hi Shalin,

Thanks for reporting this. I don't think anyone has hacked into your CNET account. Many, many years ago we did have a mix up of username in our database that affected a few of our members. And since we have re-platformed the forums a couple of times since then, this should not be problem anymore.

I looked into both of these CNET accounts and I'm trying to wrap my head around this.
Just so I'm clear on this. The account "shawlin" is not yours? https://www.cnet.com/profiles/shawnlin/

Are those forum posts in "shawlin" profile yours or not?

The reason I ask is because believe it or not, many times people accidentally create a couple of CNET accounts and post with both accounts not knowing which account they are logged under.
Do you think this is the case here?

Or is the only account you've created shmody: https://www.cnet.com/profiles/shmody/? Is http://www.shawnlin.com not a website you use to maintain?

Let me know. Trying to figure this out with your help.

Thanks,
-Lee
