Several readers have alerted us to a fake Microsoft email circulating with a malicious attachment. If you are blocking executables at your email servers, there should not be a problem. The email looks like this, but might vary a bit:

Subject: Security Update for OS Microsoft Windows
From: "Microsoft Official Update Center" <securityassurance@microsoft.com>

Dear Microsoft Customer,

I received this fake
Oct 10, 2008 4:54AM PDT

and my Mailwasher Pro tagged it as a virus.

That was the first time I have ever seen Mailwasher tag an email as a virus.

Anyway, I usually bounce spam and when I checked the Mailwasher bounce box a Mailwasher notice box came on screen that said something like: "Don't bounce this email, it will only make matters worse".

Interesting!
