Factory Reset model issue

Mar 20, 2009 4:19PM PDT

Will factory reset restore my TV?

My problem is that a newer firmware was installed over the top of an incorrect firmware. This firmware changed the model type. Then the correct firmware was installed. It installed I guess thinking the TV was the model form the wrong firmware. Now if I change the model to the correct model type will I need to do a factory reset and will that reset know the correct values for the selected model type?

Or is changing the model enough?

Do I need to reset the firmware. The correct model and country are selected.

Please help, I'm so close to having the TV all back to normal but I'm worried one or two settings may not be correct because of the prior incorrect firmware and model type. I have not reset the TV since changing it to the correct model.

Symptoms?

BJMckay123,

What symptoms make you think that the correct firmware didn't do the trick?

No symptoms, just odd settings

When the correct firmware was installed the TV thought it was a different model. I had to change the model type.
I now have two settings that don't match with a duplicate model at the store. The store model has the factory installed firmware but it is the exact same model. Would the new version require these settings to change. I'm worried they are for the wrong model.
The settings that aren't the same are as follows
New model is store
CH TABLE = SDMA
DDR = QIMONDA
My TV is
CH TABLE = SUWON
DDR is SAMSUNG
I'd like to know if I should change mine to match the one in the store or would the new firmware have changed these? Would a Factory reset do the job? Remember that the new firmware was installed over the top of one that was incorrectly setup another region.
Any ideas?

BJMckay123,

I'm not sure, but did I read elsewhere that you got this figured out? Let me know, and we'll proceed if not.

Still need help

Hi HDTech. We only figured out to change the model type. We still don't know if the CH Table and DDR are setup correctly. See this thread.
Would love some insite from you.

Find a local TV

JMckay123,

I'm be lucky to decipher everything in the service menu in U.S. televisions... I wouldn't know the difference between an Australia regional setting and a NZ regional setting.

I would see if I can get the values from another local television and input them into yours. Your retailer might allow you to use theirs.

Again, at this point it's at your own risk, but if it was me, that's what I might do. For liability reasons, I still have to officially suggest that you don't go into the service menu.
