......... to use it loudly on the Senate floor toward a Senator in a, shall I say, a declarative statement.

....for the Vice President to tell a Senator (on the Senate floor) to go F himself? Any time at all or just when you personally approve?
Leahy would be a jerk no matter what party he belonged to.
Sooooo... wrong again!
of what we have degraded to in government. At least he didn't shoot him full of birdshot, we can be grateful for that.
Lots and lots of liberals seemed to find it uproarious when Cheney grazed his friend.
I have no love for Leaky Leahy. As far as I'm concerned, treason charges would have been appropriate for his actions leaking classified documents and some of his other misdeeds.
Kudos to Cheney.
only because no firearms in the Senate?...Right to bear arms?
guys in a celebratory mood saying "This is a big "f-ing" deal" and somebody attacking an opponent with "F" yourself".
Regrettably the use of swearing is a characteristic of our generation, (say 50 + or - 25 years). Perhaps we caught it from our parents wartime generation, perhaps not.
I try to be un-profane, but I'm not always successful. I always used swearing very carefully around my son, and I find he uses it carefully around me. I haven't been able to eavesdrop on his conversations with a bunch of guys, but since he gets along with girls so well, I assume his vocabulary is found tolerable.

rightfully so. I'd never say that it's proper to distract attention from a person's misstep by calling attention to that of another person. That's a game children learn to play in regard to parental fairness. It shouldn't work then and should certainly not be carried into adulthood.
people would be aware that any microphone can be "hot." Especially one you just used!
What a dolt!
....Bush was caught on a live mic calling someone an ***hole. Like that, right? ![]()
He didn't know the mic would pick it up. Biden must have.
Does the fact that Bush may have done something similar justify it?
microphones "declaring war on the Soviet Union" too.
The thing about Bush is he made so many idiotic statements that he misunderestimated the tolerance of many of the American people. Besides, he left such a mess behind him that it's hard to forget who cranked up the Deficit to never before heard of figures, who passed virtually all his legislation without any means to fund it, including a war he didn't need to fight, and out of which we have to extract ourselves.
Rob
Yes, that's why he whispered it in Obama's ear, because he knew the mic would pick it up. Bush spoke quite loudly when he called that reporter an ***hole. If he "didn't know" the mic would pick it up, then he didn't know much about microphones.
No, the fact that Bush did something similar doesn't justify it, but I enjoy watching you try to excuse Bush's profanity.
So he had to know it was open.
Face it, he's a dope. Everyone knows it.
I didn't "try to excuse Bush's profanity." I only said what was true. YOU are the one who brought up Bush, as you invariably do.
But he didn't realize how sensitive it was?
YOU are the one who brought up Bush,
AND you're the one that brought up people saying nasty words on an open mike first.
I liked the clip of Bush trying to exit stage right and the door was locked.
........... when harry S. Truman called Drew Pearson (a "talking head" of his day) a son of....., on radioand he knew the mike was on. He was furious that Peasrson had made some insulting remarks about his daughter, Margaret.
Of course, it was no secret that Bess would often caution him to be careful about his language. ![]()

I have decided that I no longer will use either of those [not allowed here] expressions in the future. When I have a need to express such feelings, I will use the word "Pelosi."
Let me use it in a sentence. "That's just a bunch of Pelosi." I encourage you to do the same. It is such a nasty sounding word, it really packs a punch, we are no longer being vulgar, and it clearly expresses our feelings. If enough of us use it, perhaps the word could be entered into the dictionary. When on a ranch watch your step and don't step in the Pelosi. It will get on the bottom of your boot and won't go away until next election.
