Extremely slow saving of documents in Office 2003

Aug 9, 2005 6:19PM PDT

I use Office 2003 on an HP Xeon processor 3,4 ghz. When I from inside an Office document (Word, Excel, Outlook) save the document, and I have to move down in the folder hierarchy, it takes between 5-10 seconds for Office to open the folder on next lower level. That means that it can take up to 30 seconds just to save one document. This does not happen in other applications, like Adobe Acrobat etc.
Somebody got any idea if this is standard problem, and if there?s something to do about it?
Thank you.
Tomas

Not sure, but

do you have an anti-virus application, (eg Norton's anti-virus or Norton's Security Suite), that is checking everytime you try to open, (navigate), a folder?

Open up your anti-virus application and see if there is anything under Tools > Options, (or settings, preferences, etc), that is set to check Office applications. If so, uncheck it.
