Extremely Slow Boot

Mar 29, 2007 8:29AM PDT

Hi all. I am looking for some help with a slow boot problem I am having on a new Dell Windows Vista Home Premium notebook. Here are my specs:

2G RAM - 120 G hard drive - 1.6G dual core processor - 32 bit OS - running Windows Vista Home Premium

Here are all the items in my start up:

High def audio control
Windows sidebar
BSafe filter
Synaptics Pointing Device
Linksys Storage Link
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator
Juice Podcast receiver
palmone Registration
Syncback
Hotsync manager

McAfee AV
Bluetooth
Sonic Solutions
Webshots

I have the Vista Sidebar shut off.

My boot up time is around 10 minutes - my notebook will load about half the items (I tried to list what comes up first and then what comes up later). Some programs other programs will load in if I launch the in between the loading of the above, some will not.

If I am trying to work wirelessly, the connection is not available until after everything loads.

I appreciate in advance any assistance provided.

Greg

With Dell,...

...go back to Dell for help. It's new. Use the warranty. But then, when did the slow bootup started ? Right after taking the computer out of the box ? After installing a program ?

What you need to know

Is when you have overlapping protection software such as Mcafee and bsafe you can create what is known as a toxic combo. Think over when this issue started and if you can't think of such, disable or uninstall what you can until it behaves.
