Extracting text (in columns) from a pdf

Jan 30, 2008 2:30PM PST

I have several newspapers stored as pdf's. I want to copy the text from a few articles and place them in a word file. The only problem is that the when I try to copy, the highlighted area stretches across all the columns on the page. Is there any way I can extract the text one column at a time?

Never mind. I got it now.

It just goes to show that you should keep experimenting before you ask questions.

It was simple - that's why I didn't figure it out

After I copied it into MS Word, I hit clear format.

I did have to go in and clean it up, but it was a lot easier than re-typing the whole thing from stratch.
