Remove the Hard Drive

and put it into a USB enclosure.
Connect it to another Mac and it will appear on the desktop.
Recover files as required

I also had a water damaged MB Pro. Rang my insurance company who advised I could claim on my household policy under "water damage". They replaced it for $100 excess with a brand new Pro & when I asked for the old h/drive because it contained all my old files, they agreed & I got it delivered with the new PRO & put in in an external enclosure & happily got all my old files.
Worthwhile checking your insurance policy or ring them & enquire

Hi Mr macfixit, I'm in Adelaide, South Australia. Maybe our household Insurance policies are different to where you are. (i assume you reside in the US) . Most of our household insurance policies include "water damage " clauses. regards, sabusforms
