Has anyone tried to free up space on there internal drive by reloading applications and programs on there external drive?...I have made several attempts and failed. I would delete the program from the interal and reload on the external. Yes, I made sure that I changed my destination drive to the external during set-up. For some reason it still installed on the internal drive. I tried three different applications/programs (one being a disk and the other two downloaded): Adobe reader, I-tunes and Nero OEM (approx. 256mb)
I have also noticed that the computer will not boot if the external drive is on prior to the boot; it seems to freeze during the memory check. The external is only accessible if I turn it on after the booting and loading of windows xp. So I figured maybe this is a sign of a Bios conflict. I checked the Bios for a configuration issue in the boot order. I set it up accordingly: CD-rom, Internal HD, DVD-rom, HD-USB. I also tried to auto-detect the external drive and was unsuccessful.
My friend Mike is able to boot his computer with the external HD on and also run applications/programs from it and also his internal drive without any conflicts. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help?
