I cannot get my Bose Companion 2 Multimedia Speaker System to work with my Toshiba Qosmio G-15-AV501 laptop. The instructions that came with the speakers seem very straightforward, but I have been unsucessful in numerous attemps to run sound to the speakers. Any suggestions?

Are you using converted headphone jack for audio out ???

Does this run off a USB 2.0 connection or does it have left and right (white and red) composite RCA jacks ??? If it has the jacks, nearly any notebook will run external speakers by getting a headphone jack 2.5mm (male) to RCA audio jacks (2 female -- white and red) adaptor at Radio Shack for under $5.

If these speakers are suppposed to run through the USB 2.0 connection and you are not getting audio that is a different issue .......

Thanks, Ken. I finally took the literature for my Toshiba Qosmio and the Bose speakers to Best Buys where both were purchased. No one there could get them to work either. I ended up returning the speakers. The laptop has surround sound that turns out to be sufficient. At the time of purchase, I expected to use the laptop as a primary TV in one room, thus the purchase of the speakers. Plans changed, rooms changed and I have yet to view cable TV on this machine. The speakers did have the red and white connectors. Thanks again for your help.
