General discussion

external monitor

Jul 13, 2009 2:18AM PDT

Hi,

I was just wondering why an external monitor wont work with a laptop with a broken screen i have. I've tried two different montors (one vga an one lcd). I've tried pressing fn & f10 but just after the xp loading screen it goes back to the laptop screen again. i can hardly see anything on the broken screen. i was just wondering if there was anything else i could try?

thanx

Dan

Why.

Because you can't configure the settings unless you see the primary screen.

It is that simple.

Other than Windows?

Is there any reason why you must run Windows? I bet a Linux GEAR HEAD (beyond guru status) could whip this into shape.

For now just test the idea with an UBUNTU boot CD.
