External Microphone capability

by lrat69 / July 22, 2005 1:17 PM PDT

I teach at a middle school and we do the announcements via the closed-circuit tv in the school. I am looking for the least expensive camera that has an external microphone jack and also the a/v jacks. Any ideas?

I believe the old Digital-8 ones have that function. They're cheap and effective.

I think most cameras have these jacks if, by A/V, you mean

an output jack. External mics, of course, have an input jack. Some have a combined earphone (audio)/A/V jack which is identified as a yellow, four segment, mini jack.

I have only found one that has a jack for an external mic. I found the jack under the built-in mic. Am trying to stay in the $200-$250 range, so I'm limited. Thanks!
