Please use Canon's model numbers in the future.

By changing the model number, leaving out the space it added to the time to find out what model this was.

This camera has a Remote Control & Streaming feature so you might try this to a big screen iPad or Android tablet.

The manual so far didn't tell me if you can use the AV or HDMI during recording. Be sure to try that out.

A/V or HDMI out

This last suggestion is worth a try. Plug your camera HDMI out into a TV and test whether you get a live picture. Then press record and see if the picture remains.
Some cameras (my Panasonic HC-V750 for example) will give a live output even while recording and I use the A/V out to connect into a Nextbase DVD player that has an A/V input.
Do this test before buying (what can be very expensive) video monitor because, if the camera does not supply a continuous live output, you may have wasted your money.
