If you format on an Apple my bet is it's no longer in a compatible file system. As LG didn't post a manual, I leave you to use LG's support at link.

Hi I have a sony external hard drive and I recently formatted it so I could put movies on it from my mac. It works fine on my mac, but when I plug it into my LG Portable Theatre Multimedia Player it won't work it says that it is unrecognisable. Any help as to how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated ![]()

I agree with Bob, you have wrong file system to be cross portable.
That's the file system you want on the external drive where it's visible to almost all other major operating systems.

I use the GParted program on a Linux LIVE DVD or CD to create FAT32 partitions just under 2TB when needed.
You formatted on a MAC and it plays on a MAC. The player however will only play on the formats it supports or allows/accesses well. That said, what does your player manual state? As already posted to you, probable FAT32 is likely supported for such use but that depends on the ext. HD storage limits as well which may make this all the harder. Once you get what's support across all media venues, it should work.
It also helps to post exactly what model# player you're seeking help on and the ext. HD as well. All this helps zero-in on a final answer.
