Owner installed Windows but they don't know to install motherboard chipset drivers or that XP SP2 (the SP2 part) needs SP2 to correct USB 2.0 operation.
Not a word about the host PC so it could be in need of a new USB 2.0 card.

I have an 80GB Maxtor Personal Storage 3100 Drive that is giving me a strange problem. I bought a computer from a friend and I plugged my drive up and it was not connecting at all. (its USB) So I tried it on 2 other PC's and it connected to both. Now, this PC has 2 hard drives. I unplugged the one I was not using and rebooted my computer and just for the hell of it tried to connect the Maxtor drive again and it worked! Then I shut down, reconnected the other internal drive, booted back up and the Maxtor drive was not there. So I took the other drive back out and did the same thing earlier and the Maxtor drive connected again! NOW I tried to do that again later several times and its not connecting at all. I tried unplugging the USB and the power supply multiple times and tried different USB ports but it just dose not want to connect. Any ideas as to why this would occur? THANKS!
