Good luck and where's the backup to this?
Bob
I have 2 different external sata harddrives 1Terrabyte each both divided into 2 volumes each of about 488Gig. Suddenly since yesterday the first volume on one disk refuses access (Both are seen in Windows explorer) - "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable".
The other drive's second volume gives message that "the drive is not formatted, would you like to format it now?"
Is there a program that can be used to fix this as I need to recover my data - I run Windows XP2000. The first disk has been defraged about 3days ago and the problem started when I connected the disk first time yesterday after the defrag. The second disk is brand new and actually was a "backup" of the first drive a while back and has not been used since the backup=copy of the first disk. Any advice as to what might have caused this and how to prevent it will also be appreciated.
Also - I am far from an expert so please keep the advice simple and step by step
