External hard drive Question [Time machine switch]

Nov 3, 2010 8:25AM PDT

Hi,
So I bought an external harddrive over the summer and plugged it into my mac and it said that it wanted to make the external hard drive into "Time Machine". Thinking that this would be a good thing I clicked 'Yes' and it said that it deleted something and reprogramed it to be a "Tim Machine".
Unfortunately, I do not like the 'time machine' program and would like to switch it back to just an regular external hard drive I can click and drag things back and forth from. Is it possible to just 'restore' all my information and then clicking the little restart button on the external harddrive to 'reset' it back to factory settings? Or would that just ruin the entire thing?
Please help me not further mess anything up!! Happy

Thank you in advance,
Kellie
