External Hard Drive Problem

I recently bought a new external hhd and decided to sell my old one.
For that reason I downloaded "Active KillDisk for Windows" and use the "kill" option in order to erase all it's data. Well now when I connect it to my laptop the drive doesnt show up with the rest of my drives.

It does work, I can hear the sound that windows make when you connect a usb device and i can hit the safely remove thing (which shows no device letter for the drive). It does not show in my computer.

I tried in both my laptops xp and vista.

any suggestions on how to fix this?

i fixed it.
I formatted it but i still would not show up on My Computer, at least not in Vista, it did work in xp.
So i opened disk management tool and assigned it a drive letter which solved the problem.
