external hard drive??

i have a usb external hard drive. how do i download games on the external hard drive and not have them install to the computer hard drive to play?? confusing i know but i am not a computer whiz any help would be appriciated! thanks

When you download the game they should give you the option to save or open. Save to a file. If this option is not given I don't know. RLH

yes it does but then when i install it.....it installs onto the computer hard drive?? thanks tho

Some programs don't give you such an option. Complain to the software maker about such. And ask for a refund if this is a critical issue that makes such unusable.

Almost every program made will give you an option to pick the drive to install on. Many people just don't watch what is going on, and don't see the option. You either get a browse button next to the location of the install, or you get a Custom option and can switch it there.

Things to consider,

1. If you are attempting game install on external harddrive for use on other systems it may not work. Some applications need to be in the windows registry.

2. Data transfer across USB may not allow the game to run properly.

3. External H/D's need to be handled like broken egg shells.
