External Hard drive

I was wondering about the Mercury hard drives the mac sales sell. Why are they so cheap compared to a LaCie or Iomega?

Let me toss out a number.

99 bucks for an internal 300GB drive. Ok, prices have tumbled in the last few months. Let's write manufacturer A produced their product 6 months ago and manufacture B just a few weeks ago.

Who has the lower price?

Also, let's say "B" doesn't have an 800 support number or cuts support to near zero.

These are just part of what pushes the price around.

Hope this helps. And look at the warranties. Amazingly short.

Bob
