2) I can see it on "my devices" when I connect either on laptop or desktop but their is no way to access the files inside and under properties it says the device is working properly

3) It does not appear on disk management

how to troubleshoot?

Thanks in advance ?

I try it on another PC.

These are unreliable devices so you never ever "store" your last copy on one of these. You must keep backups. Recovery can be expensive. So the owner test is simple, try another PC. Be sure you are using the USB cable the drive came with and try all the PC's USB ports.

other options?

What about storing on the cloud? I am hesitant to buy another computer for storage. My laptop and external hard drive died so I lost everything. What kind of computer would you recommend as back up?

My backup system today.

A pair of USB HDDs. A few USB sticks with stuff I want to be sure isn't lost and then some work items on Dropbox (they are on the prior items too) since another layer of protection and how I deliver the code.

You don't need another laptop for such backup. Just when you see a failed USB drive, the next step is to try it in another PC just to be sure.

Hi, sorry to hear that you have problems with the drive.

Could you check the drive with SeaTools for Windows? And which troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
