External Hard Disk

Feb 5, 2007 12:47AM PST

Does anyone know whether it is possible to purchase an external hard disk or flash drive that is possible to access without entering Windows and therefore copy all the files from the internal hard disk to the external hard disk? I have a problem in that I wish to copy all my files from an internal hard disk that I have on an old computer but which does not give me access to Windows. If anyone could advise me I would be very grateful.

Thanks.

Yes. I would boot from said drive.

Using a version of Linux. Most will read the Windows partitions just fine. Sorry but this is an answer and not a tutorial on Linux.

Even cheaper would be to put that old drive into said USB housing and then plug that into our new PC.

Thanks but I have no idea what you meant and don't think you addressed the problem at all.

Here's a link about putting Linux on that external.
