External Drive Corrupted

My desktop is asking me to format my external hard drive. I have a lot of info in it and I will lose everything once I format it. Please help on how I will be able to retrieve my files.

Re: extermal drive corrupted

That's one of the most common sad stories on these forums: people using their external drive as storage without having a backup and losing their data due to some failure. It seems some people don't know an external drive isn't permanent storage.

Let's have a closer look.
- What does Disk Management tell you about the drive?
- What recovery software did you already try?

might consider putting the drive into a different housing or simply attaching it internally (if possible) as the interface itself is quite often the actual problem.
