External devices in media player

by manicsquirrel / May 15, 2009 10:47 PM PDT

I cannot get media player to recognise any external devices including my mp3 player. It used to recognise it, but now if I try to synch it keeps asking me to attach a device. I am running on Vista home premium and media player 11.0.6001.7004. Can anyone tell me why this is.

Try going into Device Manager and uninstalling and reinstalling your mp3 player. Report back with the results.

mp3/media player synch

Cheers for responding Jeff. I did as you suggested, but to no avail. If I plug my mp3 in it starts to play in media player, but it is still not recognised as a device that I can synch to. All the tracks that are on the mp3 come up in the 'now playing list', but the device itself does not seem to be recognised. Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks

Brian
