Extenions don't work in FireFox 1.5.0.1

Feb 22, 2006 10:06AM PST

I am running Windows XP Home. I am using FireFox 1.5.0.1 and Flash player, Windows Media player, Real player, and Quick time player don't not work properly. I only here sound but I get no video. Every thing works fine in Netscape but not in FireFox. What is the problem?

Check the MIME handlers

You'll want to check the MIME Handlers for this one.

On the Firefox part:
- Go to Tools > Action > Download
- In the Download Actions area should be a button, press it
- Make sure all the Actions are linked to the plugins you wanted

Then on the QuickTime:
- Open the QuickTime Preferences
- Select Browser Plug-In from the menu and press MIME Settings
- Only items with a check in the box will be processed by the QuickTime plugin

For instance, if you want a MIDI file to be played right from the Firefox browser window, then make sure that the MID extension files are set to "Open with QuickTime Plug-In" in the Firefox options, and ensure that Midi File is checked under Audio in Quicktime's MIME Settings.

I had this problem too and it's quite bothersome, but this should do the trick.
