Question

Extending Wireless Range

Mar 9, 2017 12:21PM PST

I have a netgear router as my main router. I am extending my wireless range to a structure about 150ft from the main house. I have connected a Sagecom wireless router via ethernet cable to the main router. I followed the steps and changed the IP as well as disabled the DHCP on the wireless access point. The internet works but continues to drop at regular intervals and comes back up a few minutes later. It does this all times of day or night. I am a novice so setting up the AP successfully was a major accomplishment but the current connection drops are extremely aggrivating. Any help would be appreciated. The connection drop occurs on all devices equally. Thanks in advance for your help.

Nope.

It's over 100 so never a sure thing. You can try reflector dishes (see the web) and moving the antennas to line of sight but I'd be trying a POWERLINE LINK next.

Spec calls for 300 ft.
Your saying anything over 100 ft is iffy?

As 100 and over feet. It might, but you have to test and then it's only good for the day of the test.

Even wired connections

decrease and have recommended 100 meter distance. The best thing to do if you can if to do wiring so router is in the center most point of house. My brother in law did that and now his whole house gets good coverage

Connect the 150ft ethernet cable direct to a pc.
Take the access point out of the picture.
Does the internet still drop?
