Question

Extending wifi

Sep 14, 2017 3:45PM PDT

We built a private workshop area that is approximately 60 feet from our router's location in our house. I can occasionally pick up our wifi, but even when I can it is very weak. I currently have a Linksys e1000 router, which serves us well in the house, as we mainly use our devices in close proximity to the router. I've read about mesh networks, extenders, better routers, and just not sure what would serve us best.

There is usually only 1 person at a time using the bandwidth, sometimes 2, but no real heavy use. We'd mainly just like to be able to use iPads in the shop area, have my iPhone use wifi for phone connection, and stream video occasionally.

Suggestions?

Clarification Request
Extending wifi range

Thanks. I'll look at this and it might work. I'm also interested in whether a newer ac router would extend the range, or what would be recommended for an entirely new setup.
